YMCA of Dane County, Inc.
The YMCA of Dane County is a mission-driven organization dedicated to the vital needs of kids and families for healthy, lifelong development for over 120 years. That has kept us at the forefront of continuous, socially relevant innovations. Today, it is the YMCA that is addressing our nation’s lifestyle health crisis with its increasing rates of obesity and inactivity. When those long-term, foundational human needs are met successfully - the very core of YMCA work - individuals are capable of living out a shared sense of responsibility for the overall health of the community. Without the YMCA, many critical needs in our community would go unserved.

Hebron House of Hospitality, Inc. served families, single men and single women. In 1986 when the Salavation Army opened a Lodge for single men, Hebron House focused on families and single women as its target population for emergency shelter.

Walk In my shoes
The Walkin’ In My Shoes, Inc., nonprofit charitable organization began in 2005 as a grass-roots, community effort led by Jo A Wynn, in response to the increasing issue of underserved homeless populations throughout the United States. Jo Wynn would walk the streets and go into areas where they congregate and provide a listening ear and a hand of compassion. During this time Jo Wynn identified three very pressing needs that were unmet by other community organizations. The three unmet needs she identified were: 1) the number of young people, and women with children living on the streets that were turned away or placed on waiting lists because shelters were at capacity, 2) the need for housing assistance for the chronic homeless population and 3) the lack of information and access to prevention services for those persons living on the street.
